The State of Supplement Hype
An annual report, assembled from the belief-vs-evidence graph: the year's biggest gaps between what's trending and what's graded, what surged, what got debunked, and what quietly got better. We commit to this report before we have anything to publish, because a commitment made in advance is worth more than one made after the results are known.
What it will contain
- The year's biggest belief-evidence gaps, ranked, with numbers.
- What surged in attention this year (from the hype pipeline).
- What got debunked — evidence reversals, with dates.
- What quietly got better — evidence that strengthened. A report that only debunks reads as a hit piece; we include the good news too.
- The mechanism-only league table — interventions sold on biological plausibility, never shown to work in people.
- The industry-funding audit — what share of the year's positive trials were industry-funded.
Publish commitment
Not yet published — this page ships the commitment ahead of the first edition, the same honest-zero discipline as our corrections log. Format: a public web report, a PDF, a dataset, and a Zenodo DOI.
